Korean Hair Salon Hanoi: Layers, Perms & Prices

Direct answer: A Korean-style hair salon in Hanoi offers layered cuts, soft waves, digital perms and colour plans adapted to the client's face shape, texture and maintenance routine. At Nhat Tam, English support is available on request, current service prices are published online, and the final plan is confirmed after a hair consultation.

You have saved a reference photo: soft face-framing layers, a neat C-curl, perhaps a warmer colour. The picture shows the finish, but not the safest way to create it on your hair. A layered cut may be enough; another result may need styling or a perm. This guide compares the choices, published price ranges and booking questions for Nhat Tam Hair Salon in Hanoi.

Quick answer: Choose the result first, then let the in-person assessment determine the method. Layers may create enough movement on their own. C-curl and S-curl describe shapes that can come from styling or a perm. Nhat Tam’s guides use “setting perm” and “digital perm” for closely related hot-perm methods. Request English support when booking, and confirm the method, total price and time before the service begins.

In this guide, “Korean hair salon” means a salon offering Korean-inspired looks. Nhat Tam is not presented as Korean-owned, Korean-certified or staffed by Korean stylists.

Korean layers, C-curl, S-curl or digital perm: which should you choose?

A reference photo shows the finish. It does not always reveal how that finish was created or whether the same method is sensible for your hair.

If a softly layered Korean shape is not bold enough for what you have in mind, our guide to unique and statement hairstyles in Hanoi covers disconnected, asymmetric and heavy-fringe shapes and who each one suits.

If you are leaning towards a permed finish rather than a cut, our guide to the Korean digital perm in Hanoi explains C-curl and S-curl sizing, how long each one lasts and the first wash aftercare.

Use the table below to identify the service that should be discussed during your consultation:

If you want Ask the stylist about What needs checking
Movement and a softer outline around the face A Korean-inspired layered haircut Your current length, density and how much styling you normally do at home
A smooth inward bend at the ends A C-curl finish Whether cutting and styling are enough, or whether a perm should be considered
A more visible flowing wave An S-curl finish The wave size you want and the present condition of your hair
A longer-lasting curl A setting or digital perm Whether heat and chemicals suit your current hair condition

Treat these names as consultation shorthand, not fixed packages. Nhat Tam’s published guides use setting perm and digital perm for closely related hot-perm methods; C-curl and S-curl describe the shape, not the technique. The stylist still needs to check your length, density and chemical history before suggesting a cut, styling plan or perm.

The detailed comparison between digital and cold perm appears later in this guide.

Korean haircut and perm prices in Hanoi

The published ranges below are useful for budgeting. They are not a personalised quotation for a particular reference photo.

Service Published price after the booking and check-in deal
Women’s designer haircut 150,000 VND
Basic combination: haircut plus colour, perm or straightening 480,000 to 780,000 VND
VIP combination: haircut plus colour, perm or straightening 900,000 to 1,320,000 VND
Balayage or ombre 2,280,000 to 3,120,000 VND

These are the rates shown in Nhat Tam’s source pages after the stated booking and check-in deal. Ask whether you qualify for that promotion, what is included and what the total would be without it. Promotions and prices can change.

Before the service begins, ask the salon to confirm the proposed service, what the price includes and the likely total. Appointment time and expected longevity are explained separately below.

For the full service breakdown, see the perm price and warranty guide and the broader Hanoi hair salon price guide. If colour is part of the reference look, use the dedicated guides to balayage prices in Hanoi and hair colour in Vietnam for foreign visitors.

Korean colour tones our clients actually ask for

A Korean haircut rarely stops at the cut. Most of the look comes from the tone: soft, slightly cool browns that make the layers read as movement instead of bulk. Vietnamese and most Asian hair starts at a dark level with warm red pigment underneath, so each of these tones is really a question of how much of that warmth we take out first.

These four are the ones our English speaking clients ask for most often. All four photographs are real results from our Hanoi floor, not colour swatches.

Milk tea brown
Cool ash olive brown on long loose waves, the low maintenance end of the Korean colour range
Ash olive brown
Smoky lilac grey on pre lightened long hair, one of the boldest Korean tones we mix
Smoky lilac grey
Silver mint ash on long hair, toned over a full lift at Nhat Tam Hair Salon in Hanoi
Silver mint ash

Milk tea brown and ash olive brown sit closest to your natural level, so they need the least lifting and they grow out gently. Smoky lilac grey and silver mint ash both need a full lift first, which means a longer appointment, a strand test on the day, and a toner refresh every few weeks to stop the colour turning brassy. Fine hair, or hair that has been bleached before, may not take a full lift safely; we will tell you that at the consultation rather than halfway through the service.

Colour is quoted separately from the cut and perm prices listed above. If colour is the main thing you want, read our guide to hair colour in Vietnam for foreign clients first, then book a consultation so we can look at your hair in daylight before agreeing on a tone.

How to prepare for an English-supported consultation

English support can be scheduled, but it should be requested when you book the appointment.

For a clearer consultation, send five things in advance:

  1. A recent photograph of your current hair.
  2. The Korean-inspired reference you like.
  3. Details of any recent bleach, colour, perm or straightening.
  4. Your preferred appointment date and time.
  5. A direct request for English support.

Ask the salon to reply with the likely service, an estimated price range and the expected appointment length. A recommendation based on photographs is still preliminary; the final method should follow a direct assessment of your hair.

It also helps to say what you do not want. Short statements such as “Please keep the length”, “I do not want tight curls” or “I do not style my hair every morning” can make the reference image easier to interpret.

The English-speaking hair salon guide provides more communication context. When you are ready to contact the salon, follow the separate online booking guide.

Setting or digital perm vs cold perm: which should you ask about?

A Korean-inspired curl does not automatically require a digital perm. The useful question is whether the method suits your hair in its present condition.

Two European women clients having a Korean style perm and a layered blow dry at Nhat Tam Hair Salon in Hanoi while the rest of the floor is busy with other clients
Korean perms and layer cuts run side by side on our upper floor.

A setting or digital perm uses controlled heated rods, and its curl pattern is generally clearer when the hair is dry. Suitability depends on your present hair condition and chemical history. If your hair is weak, bleached, damaged or prone to breakage, ask whether a cold perm, another method or no chemical service yet would be more appropriate.

Your reference photograph still matters, but it serves a different purpose: it shows the finish you like. It does not reveal how your hair will respond to heat or chemicals. Send the salon a current, unstyled hair photograph and disclose any recent bleach, colour, perm or straightening before choosing the method.

A useful question to ask is:

Based on my current hair condition, would you recommend a setting or digital perm, a cold perm or no chemical service yet?

Be prepared for the recommended method to differ from the name you first searched for. If your aim is smoothness rather than curls, compare the options in the Japanese hair straightening guide before booking.

Time, longevity, the first 48 hours and warranty

A hot-perm appointment takes a substantial part of the day, so allow enough time rather than fitting it tightly between other plans. Across Nhat Tam’s published setting- and digital-perm guides, planning ranges are approximately 2.5 to 4 hours and 3 to 6 months, depending on the chosen method, hair condition and aftercare.

These are useful planning ranges, not a promise for every head of hair.

Service or policy Guide figure or stated period
Setting/digital perm appointment Approximately 2.5 to 4 hours
Setting/digital perm longevity Approximately 3 to 6 months
First wash after a perm Wait at least 48 hours
Perm and straightening warranty 90 days
Bleach and colour warranty 30 days
Haircut adjustment 30 days

After a perm, wait at least 48 hours before the first wash. If your stay in Hanoi is short, include that requirement in your plans.

Longevity and warranty are separate figures. The current stated periods are 90 days for perm and straightening, 30 days for bleach and colour, and 30 days for haircut adjustment. The figures alone do not explain coverage or exclusions, so ask how the relevant policy applies before the service begins.

When booking, confirm three points in writing: the expected appointment time, the aftercare instructions and the policy that applies to your chosen service.

What recent customers said about their visits

Reviews are useful for understanding how previous customers felt about the consultation, communication and service. They do not guarantee that the same haircut, colour or perm will suit every person.

In a public Google review of Nhat Tam, Lily Downie wrote that the team were “super attentive about the colour” and “knew exactly what I wanted”. She also described the price as “super good” and recommended travelling beyond the Old Quarter to have your hair styled.

The comments above come from named public Google reviews. The images in this guide are real Nhat Tam salon photographs and are not presented as the reviewers or as proof of an identical result.

Zuaia Heje wrote, “Everything was very good. Love my new hair.” Kasia Klusek described the service as very good and professional. These are individual accounts, not proof that one technique or reference style will suit every guest.

The most relevant details are whether the stylist listened, discussed the requested service carefully and understood the intended result. For a chemical service, your current hair condition and treatment history still need to be assessed separately.

Frequently asked questions

Is Nhat Tam a Korean-owned hair salon?

No. Here, “Korean hair salon” describes the styles being discussed, not the salon’s ownership, certification or staff.

Do I need a digital perm for a C-curl or S-curl?

Not necessarily. C-curl and S-curl describe the shape you want. The appropriate route may involve cutting, styling or a perm, depending on your current hair and the intended finish.

Can I have a digital perm if my hair is fine, bleached or damaged?

Fine, bleached or damaged hair needs an in-person check first. Depending on its condition, the stylist may suggest a cold perm, another method or no chemical service yet.

How much should I budget?

A women’s designer haircut is listed at 150,000 VND after the stated booking and check-in deal. Basic haircut-plus-colour, perm or straightening combinations are listed at 480,000 to 780,000 VND, while VIP combinations are listed at 900,000 to 1,320,000 VND after the same deal.
