Why Dong Da Is an Easy Place to Get Your Hair Done

Dong Da is one of the densest, most lived-in parts of central Hanoi. It is not the postcard quarter, and that is exactly why it works for a salon appointment. Rents are lower than around Hoan Kiem, so the same money buys a bigger room, more chairs and more staff on shift. You are also surrounded by ordinary Hanoi life rather than tourist pricing.

For foreign residents, Dong Da has a particular advantage: it sits in the middle. It borders Ba Dinh to the north, Hai Ba Trung to the east and Cau Giay to the west, so almost anywhere in the inner city is a short ride away.

The elevated metro helps too: the Cat Linh terminus is inside Dong Da, roughly a five minute bike ride from our door. One warning, though. Dong Da streets are narrow and the rush hours are bad, roughly 7:30 to 8:45 and 17:00 to 18:45. A trip that takes twelve minutes at 10:00 can take half an hour at 18:00, so if your service runs several hours, book a morning slot.

Where Exactly Is the Dong Da Salon?

The address is 89 Nguyen Hy Quang, O Cho Dua, Dong Da, Hanoi. Nguyen Hy Quang is a short street running off the Hoang Cau area, close to the lake of the same name and a few hundred metres from the O Cho Dua junction. Type the full address into your map app rather than the salon name and you will land within a few metres of the door.

Two landmarks help if you are giving directions to a driver out loud: Hoang Cau lake, which every driver knows instantly, and the O Cho Dua junction where Xa Dan, Ton Duc Thang and De La Thanh meet. From either point you are two or three minutes away.

Rough travel times outside rush hour, for planning rather than as a promise: ten to fifteen minutes from the Old Quarter, ten minutes from Ba Dinh and the Lotte Center, fifteen to twenty from the West Lake expat streets, ten to fifteen from Cau Giay, and around ten from the Bach Khoa university area. Traffic, not distance, is what moves those numbers.

One note on addresses. Vietnam reorganised its local administrative units in 2025, so newer paperwork and some map layers now label these areas as wards rather than districts. Residents, taxi drivers and ride-hailing apps all still use the familiar names, and so does our address. If a form asks for something that does not match what you see on a map, the street number and street name are the parts that matter.

How Much Does a Haircut Cost in Dong Da?

The Warranty, and Why It Matters More Than the Headline Price

Almost every salon in Hanoi can quote you a low number. Very few will write down what happens if the result is wrong. Ours is published on the price page and applies at all four branches.

• Bleach and colour: 30 days. Free correction inside the window.
• Haircut: 7 days. If the shape is not sitting right, come back and we adjust it at no charge.

Read that list against the price table and the logic becomes clear. A 480K colour with a 30 day guarantee is a different purchase from a 400K colour with no guarantee at all, because the cheaper one quietly transfers the risk to you. What the warranty does not cover is a change of mind about the shade, or damage from home bleaching afterwards.
