Extensions are the service where Hanoi pricing confuses foreign customers most, because the quote you are given is rarely the whole cost. There is the hair itself, the fitting labour, and later the removal and any colouring. This guide sets out every one of those lines for hair extensions in Hanoi from our published price list, explains what changes the total, and is honest about what extensions will and will not do for your hair.
If you are weighing extensions against a colour change instead, our guides to balayage prices in Hanoi and hair colour in Vietnam for foreigners cover that side.
Below: the full price breakdown with worked examples, how the pricing is actually structured, how long a set lasts, the aftercare that decides whether it was worth it, and the honest limitations.

How Extension Pricing Is Actually Structured
Three separate charges make up the total, and knowing that in advance prevents the most common unpleasant surprise.
First, the hair itself, charged per bundle. Our feather extension bundles are priced by length and by whether the hair is natural black or bleached, and the fitting of each bundle is already included in that price. Second, the fitting labour, which is a fixed fee based on how many strands you are having done, and which does not move with discounts. Third, anything you ask for afterwards: removal, or colouring the extensions along with your natural hair.
The discount rules differ from the rest of the price list too. Extension bundles carry a 20% reduction, made up of 10% for checking in and 10% for booking ahead, rather than the 40% that applies to combos. The fitting labour and removal are flat fees with no discount at all. That is deliberate: those are time charges, not product charges.

Bundle prices already include the 20% reduction, 10% for checking in and 10% for booking ahead. USD figures use a reference rate of roughly 26,000 VND to the dollar and are estimates.
A worked example makes it concrete. A modest set using 80 bundles of 50 cm black feather at 28K comes to 2,240K for the hair, plus 500K fitting labour for up to 100 strands, for a total of about 2,740K, roughly 105 US dollars. A longer, fuller set of 150 bundles at 60 cm bleached, 44K each, is 6,600K plus 1,000K fitting, about 7,600K or roughly 292 dollars.
Removal is the line people forget. At 5K per strand, taking out a 150-strand set is 750K. Budget for it at the start rather than discovering it three months later.

How Many Bundles Do You Actually Need?
This is the question we cannot answer honestly over a message, and any salon that quotes a firm number before seeing your hair is guessing. It depends on your natural density, how much length you are adding and whether you want volume throughout or only at the ends.
As a rough orientation: adding modest length and a little thickness to hair that is already reasonably dense tends to sit in the lower band, under 100 strands, which keeps you in the 500K fitting bracket. Adding significant length or filling out fine hair usually crosses into the 100 to 300 band with the 1,000K fitting fee.
Send a photo in daylight on Messenger and we will give you a range rather than a single number, and explain what moves it. When you arrive, the stylist confirms the count and the total before anything is fitted. Nobody should be adding bundles without your knowing what each one costs.
How Long a Set Lasts, and the Aftercare That Decides It
Your own hair grows, so extensions gradually move away from the scalp. Most people find a set needs attention somewhere in the two to four month range, sooner if your hair grows quickly or you wear it up a lot. That is a natural limit, not a fault in the fitting.
Three habits make the difference between the top and bottom of that range. Brush from the ends upwards with a soft brush, never from the root down, because tugging at the attachment point is what loosens a bundle. Never sleep on wet hair, and tie it loosely in a plait if you sleep restlessly. And keep heavy conditioner and oil away from the attachment points; use them on the mid-lengths and ends only.
In Hanoi’s climate there is a fourth. Humidity and daily helmet use are both hard on extensions, and pulling a helmet on over a fresh set while the hair is still damp is the fastest way to loosen the top row. Let it dry properly first.
If something does slip, come back rather than pushing it into place yourself. Refitting a few bundles is quick; repairing a section that has been pulled at is not.

The Honest Limitations
Extensions add length and density. They do not repair anything. If your hair is dry, frizzy or breaking, extensions will sit on top of that problem rather than solve it, and the extra weight can make fragile hair worse. In that situation the better sequence is a restorative treatment first: standard keratin at 900K to 1,350K, or the TRISYS line at 1,215K to 1,575K. Our keratin guide sets out the difference.
If your scalp is sensitive or you have noticed thinning, say so before booking. Attachment points put steady tension on the roots, and there are conditions where extensions are genuinely not advisable. We would rather tell you that at the enquiry stage.
Colour matching is the other honest caveat. Bleached bundles match light hair; black bundles match dark hair. If your natural colour sits between the two, or you want the extensions to match a dyed shade, the answer is usually to colour both together at 1,200K standard or 1,600K VIP, which gives a single consistent tone rather than a visible line.
Finally, extensions are a commitment to maintenance, not a one-off purchase. Between the fitting, the eventual removal and the brushing discipline in between, they ask more of you than a cut does. When that suits someone, the result is excellent. When it does not, a good layered cut at 150K often delivers more of what they actually wanted.

Nhat Tam price list, after the standard discount
How the discount works: book ahead and 30% comes off, check in at the salon and another 10% comes off, so the usual saving is up to 40%. Haircuts, men’s services and feather extensions run on their own rules.

250K VND→ 150K VND, about $6 - Men’s cut:
200K VND→ 100K VND, about $4 - Basic combo, cut plus colour, perm or straightening (S/M/L):

1,500K to 2,250K→ 900K to 1,350K VND, about $35 to $52 - Steam ION and vegan combo:
1,500K→ 900K VND, about $35, one price for every hair length

Frequently Asked Questions
How much do hair extensions cost in Hanoi?
Feather extension bundles are 28K to 44K each depending on length and whether the hair is black or bleached, with fitting included in the bundle price. On top of that sits a fixed fitting labour fee of 500K for up to 100 strands or 1,000K for 100 to 300 strands. A modest set works out around 2,740K, roughly 105 US dollars.
What is the difference between black and bleached bundles?
Black bundles are natural dark hair and cost less: 28K at 50 cm and 36K at 60 cm. Bleached bundles are lightened and cost 36K and 44K for the same lengths. Which you need depends on matching your own colour.
Is the fitting included in the bundle price?
Yes, the fitting of each bundle is included in its price. The separate fitting labour fee, 500K or 1,000K depending on strand count, is a fixed charge that carries no discount. Removal later is 5K per strand, also fixed.
How many bundles will I need?
It depends on your natural density and how much length you are adding, so no honest quote is possible before seeing your hair. Send a daylight photo on Messenger for a range. The stylist confirms the exact count and total before fitting anything.
How long do extensions last?
Usually two to four months before they need attention, because your own hair keeps growing and moves the attachment points away from the scalp. Brushing from the ends upwards, never sleeping on wet hair and keeping oils away from the attachment points all push you towards the longer end.
Can I colour my extensions?
Yes. Colouring the extensions together with your natural hair is 2,000K list and 1,200K after the discount for the standard product, or 2,700K and 1,600K for VIP. Colouring both together is what avoids a visible line between your hair and the extensions.
Are extensions a good idea if my hair is damaged?
Generally no. Extensions add length and density but repair nothing, and the added weight can make fragile hair worse. A restorative treatment first is the better sequence, and if you have a sensitive scalp or noticed thinning, tell us before booking.
